Just announced, “Adobe Systems is in discussions to buy cloud marketing software company Marketo, Reuters reports.”
I remember one of their first acquisitions, and also their primary competitor, Macromedia.
The acquisition helped them leapfrog ahead of smaller competitors, and develop true dominance in their category. Perhaps, by some accounts, a monopoly.
With their recent purchase of Magento Commerce, acquiring Marketo would round out their ecommerce and marketing dominance.
Has Adobe become the “Amazon” of cloud-based design and marketing software?
